The Importance of Social Skills
In today’s competitive society, those with well-developed social skills have a tangible advantage in virtually every aspect of their lives. These skills empower individuals to:
- feel comfortable with themselves and others
- communicate more effectively
- set a leadership example in school, work opportunities, or in any social situation
- promote personal growth, confidence and character
While academics are essential to everyone’s future, studies by Harvard University, Stanford Research Institute, and The Carnegie Foundation indicate that over 85% of one’s career success is directly connected to one’s social skills.
How Cotillion Promotes Social Skills Education
The Saturday Club Cotillion incorporates dance as a vehicle for promoting social skills education. Why use dance? It is known that dance:
- breaks down inhibitions
- teaches physical respect
- develops confidence
- establishes teamwork and cooperation
- reinforces non-verbal and verbal communication
- teaches the students how to interact appropriately with the opposite gender and adults in a structured and healthy environment
The Saturday Club Cotillion is directed Jon D. Williams Cotillions. They are an exceptional staff of instructors, who teach not only at primary and secondary school levels – but also at university, business, and corporate levels. Their objective is to contribute to their students’ characters by building a foundation of social awareness for future relationships and career opportunities.
Our classes are progressive from year to year and instructors work with students based on their individual skill level and needs. New students at any level will find it easy to adapt and extra help is always available.
Cotillion is the foundation for learning important social skills through dance. Classes provide a safe and fun environment in which students become confident and comfortable in social situations. Refining and practicing good manners, at this influential age, offers rewards that will benefit children throughout their lives.
