2022 Annual Grant Program Recipients

Last night during our April Membership Meeting, The Saturday Club awarded grant funding to five local organizations with aligned missions. Annual philanthropy grants were presented to Bridge Academy & Community Center, DMAX Foundation, Inglis Foundation, Girls on the Run Southeastern Suburban Pennsylvania and Radnor, A Better Chance. The funds, which were raised by the club through community fundraisers throughout 2021 and 2022, will be used to establish and enhance programs while providing key assistance to each organization. Women Empowering Other Women

During the month of January our members engaged in multiple activities to support Wings for Success and their exciting move from their Frazer location to the Exton Mall. Wings for Success empowers women and teens in-need to achieve career and economic stability. There are many young women that need guidance and support toward building economic independence and single working mothers whose income limits their ability to take care of themselves and their families. Two Peas in a Pod: TSC + PSP

The Saturday Club kicked off the second half of our Club year with a hands-on collection and service drive involving all of our TSC families! Prospective members, member volunteers, board members and our children gathered together at The Saturday Club to support the Greater Philadelphia Area chapter of Project Sweet Peas. We learned about the fragile needs of premature babies and specifically some important ways to support NICU families through PSP programs and resources.  Read Full Post

Gifting a Little Breathing Room

Around the holiday season, The Saturday Club often looks to find a local organization to partner with to fulfill a special in-need group’s holiday wish list. This year, The Saturday Club had the opportunity to help brighten one family’s Christmas by collecting and wrapping gifts. We met Yasmine, an 8 year old little girl with neuroblastoma, her three brothers and mother through The Breathing Room Foundation. Read Full Post

Providing Comfort & Support One Pillowcase at a Time

For our December Community Outreach project, our member volunteers collaborated with a local women-owned business in support of Ryan’s Case for Smiles. Ryan’s Case for Smiles is a locally-established charitable organization that aims to bring comfort to children and families who are undergoing treatment for cancer or other illnesses requiring hospitalization. The organization was formed in Wayne when a local 12-year-old was diagnosed with cancer and his mother wanted to brighten his hospital stays with a brightly-colored pillowcase. Read Full Post

Closing the Gap on Food Insecurity

Every year during the month of November many of us are reminded to reflect on all that we are grateful for in the spirit of Thanksgiving. This season is also a time to consider those who may not have the same access to these things and to help find ways to assist in filling the void. Read Full Post

Offering Support During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, our members were challenged to find meaningful ways to support the annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month also serves an important reminder to perform routine self-breast exams and get regular mammograms if you have any personal or family history or are within the recommended ages to receive one. TSCKids’ Fall Collection for FLITE

As proud members of the Wayne Business Association, we love participating in the annual Radnor Fall Festival in Downtown Wayne every September and this year was no exception! Our TSCKids Club — comprised of our members’ children and grandchildren — hosted a fun pumpkin decorating station for festival visitors to enjoy while encouraging a donation in support of our friends at the Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin/Easttown (FLITE). Helping Bridge the Word Gap Through Lending Libraries

Over the last year, many of us have had the opportunity to dedicate more time and energy towards creative outlets and mental wellness as a byproduct of the pandemic. Simple, traditional activities — such as riding bicycles, crafting and baking bread — have reemerged. For many of our households, the list of ‘home activities’ with our children, in lieu of the extracurriculars they would have had in and after school, grew long. Read Full Post

Bravery Bags Help Bring Courage & Support to Mended Little Hearts Families

During the month of May, our TSCKids Club and Member Volunteers prepared ‘Bravery Bags’ in conjunction with Mended Little Hearts of Philadelphia to support families who have a child in the hospital undergoing treatment, surgery or a procedure to heal their heart. ‘Bravery Bags’ are intended to help the child — as well as their siblings, parents and caregivers — to have courage during an emotionally taxing experience.  Read Full Post
