Offering Support During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, our members were challenged to find meaningful ways to support the annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month also serves an important reminder to perform routine self-breast exams and get regular mammograms if you have any personal or family history or are within the recommended ages to receive one. TSCKids’ Fall Collection for FLITE

As proud members of the Wayne Business Association, we love participating in the annual Radnor Fall Festival in Downtown Wayne every September and this year was no exception! Our TSCKids Club — comprised of our members’ children and grandchildren — hosted a fun pumpkin decorating station for festival visitors to enjoy while encouraging a donation in support of our friends at the Foundation for Learning in Tredyffrin/Easttown (FLITE). Helping Bridge the Word Gap Through Lending Libraries

Over the last year, many of us have had the opportunity to dedicate more time and energy towards creative outlets and mental wellness as a byproduct of the pandemic. Simple, traditional activities — such as riding bicycles, crafting and baking bread — have reemerged. For many of our households, the list of ‘home activities’ with our children, in lieu of the extracurriculars they would have had in and after school, grew long. Read Full Post

Bravery Bags Help Bring Courage & Support to Mended Little Hearts Families

During the month of May, our TSCKids Club and Member Volunteers prepared ‘Bravery Bags’ in conjunction with Mended Little Hearts of Philadelphia to support families who have a child in the hospital undergoing treatment, surgery or a procedure to heal their heart. ‘Bravery Bags’ are intended to help the child — as well as their siblings, parents and caregivers — to have courage during an emotionally taxing experience.  Read Full Post

Welcome Home Baskets for Families in the Interfaith Hospitality Network of the Main Line

As a past recipient of The Saturday Club Annual Grant Program, The Saturday Club is well-attuned to the great work that is being done at the Interfaith Hospitality Network (an Affiliate of FamilyPromise) to provide temporary shelter and services for homeless families, by leveraging resources from the community and local congregations. It is easy to take for granted the housing stability that most of us enjoy each and every day for ourselves and our families.  Read Full Post

Assembling Activity Bags for Maternal & Child Health Consortium to Promote a Healthy Start

As we celebrate Women’s History Month in March, The Saturday Club was fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with an organization that supports one of the essential female roles — that of the mother. Our Member Volunteers worked this month to promote and support the incredible work that the Maternal & Child Health Consortium (MCHC) of Chester County does in our region. Read Full Post

Empowering Young Girls to Be Leaders One Seed at a Time

This month, The Saturday Club partnered with Camp Sojourner, Girls’ Leadership Camp — an organization we discovered through the Movement Alliance Project. Camp Sojourner is a non-profit program dedicated to offering young girls an opportunity to learn and grow as leaders in their own lives and become ‘agents of change’ in their communities. This mission aligns so well with The Saturday Club’s, which has dedicated itself to empowering women to lift one another, while providing aid to our local community, for the last 135 years. TSC Kids Create Birthday Kits for Children at Drueding Center

This past week, some of our TSC Kids families and Member Volunteers collected and assembled 15 “Birthday-in-a-Box” kits for children of the young, homeless families in the transitional housing program at Drueding Center. This was a brand new service project concept for our group and one we are hopeful will spread joy during a difficult time.  Read Full Post

Used Technology Drive Helps Arm Local Students with Essential Resources for Virtual School During Pandemic

Throughout the month of January, The Saturday Club ran a community-wide Used Technology Drive in support of the Philadelphia Children’s Foundation. PCF’s mission is to help arm every child with an equal opportunity to learn in the digital age. Dozens of used laptops, web cameras, tablets, printers and accompanying accessories were collected and delivered to PCF — where their technology refurbishment volunteers could immediately prepare the tech to be put into the hands of local students and faculty throughout Philadelphia and its Western Suburbs.
