Community Service is the cornerstone of The Saturday Club’s philanthropic mission. As members of The Saturday Club, we are dedicated to our long-standing commitment of service to our local community. Our membership is passionate about helping those in need while creating a greater sense of community and compassion throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, especially in our own backyard of Delaware County. In alignment with our mission, all of our service projects are geared to align our charitable organization with other local 501(c)(3) organizations that benefit women, children and families.
The Saturday Club service projects change annually based on the current needs of the community and capacity of our member volunteers. Projects in recent years have spanned from collecting books and sponsoring shelving for local literacy programs in Philadelphia (WePAC) and Radnor (Radnor Memorial Library); holiday gift donations and wrapping events for vulnerable children displaced from their homes and living at a facility in Rosemont (Gemma Services, formerly theVillage); meal preparation and special bundles for ill children and families of those hospitalized children in Bryn Mawr (Jared Boxes for Bryn Mawr Hospital) and Philadelphia (Gift of Life Family House). We have exchanged ‘favorite things’ with each other during a special holiday collection of women’s pampering items for displaced women in Exton (Home of the Sparrow) and built an art display of donated baby products for families impacted by domestic abuse in Montgomery County (Laurel House). We host a blood drive each year in conjunction with the American Red Cross at our Clubhouse in downtown Wayne and continue to be the site of many other impactful donation drives for so many other organizations. Each year we seek to partner with a dozen or more charitable groups and each year these partnerships evolve. Learn more about the ways our members are volunteering their time through our Community Service and Outreach program blog.
Throughout our club’s history, philanthropy and the power of collective giving has been critical to its mission. In addition to the club’s direct service projects, members also plan and facilitate several fundraising events. The Women & Children’s Consignment Sale, Handbag Bingo, Holiday Market, The Saturday Club Shuffle 5K and Kids Race and The Saturday Club Cotillion are our club’s largest fundraisers. Funds raised through these events enable us to provide support to important causes in our community. Every April the club grants awards to other, local charitable organizations that support our philanthropic mission via our Grant Program.
