The Saturday Club
The Saturday Club of Wayne, Pennsylvania, was established in 1886 and is among the oldest women’s clubs nationwide. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, The Saturday Club is dedicated to providing philanthropic support to women’s and children’s charitable organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region with both financial contributions and volunteer service hours.
Member Volunteers
The Saturday Club’s members are volunteers who believe in the club’s long-standing charitable mission. We currently have 138 member volunteers who work together to better the lives of others through direct service, fundraising for special causes and philanthropic support to those in need.
Community Outreach
Community Service is the cornerstone of The Saturday Club’s philanthropic mission. As members of The Saturday Club, we are dedicated to our long-standing commitment of service to our local community. Our membership is passionate about helping those in need while creating a greater sense of community and compassion throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.
The Saturday Club service projects change annually based on the current needs of the community and capacity of our member volunteers. Projects in recent years have included: creating ‘Birthday-in-a-Box’ Kits for children at the Drueding Center; assembling Blessing Bags for Angels in Motion; organizing a community-wide used technology drive in support of the Philadelphia Children’s Foundation; hosting a virtual food donation drive in support of Philabundance; collecting books for Reach Out and Read Philadelphia; organizing a clothing collection drive and sorting event for The Baby Bureau; collecting, sorting and barcoding donated books for West Philadelphia Alliance for Children; cooking a weekend breakfast alongside the food services staff at Ronald McDonald House and hosting a ‘Favorite Things’ event in support of Home of the Sparrow.
Ways & Means Fundraisers
In addition to the club’s direct service projects, members also plan and facilitate several fundraising events. For the upcoming 2021-2022 club year, the Bi-Annual Women & Children’s Consignment Sales, Holiday Market, Santa & Bunny at The Saturday Club and Ladies’ Charity Bingo will serve as are our club’s largest fundraisers. Funds raised through these events enable us to provide support to important causes in our community.
Last year, we began a series of ‘auxiliary fundraisers’ in an effort to partner with and support our local business owners and entrepreneurs. We will continue these smaller fundraisers as well as introduce the ‘Friends of The Saturday Club’ marketing program. This program is intended to continue to build upon our partnerships & support of local businesses, artisans and entrepreneurs while raising additional funds to supplement our Annual Grant Program and Clubhouse operations.
Annual Grant Program
The Saturday Club’s Annual Grant Program represents the culmination of the hard fundraising work our members do each year. We provide direct contribution of funds raised via our events to help other important causes and strive to support local charitable and philanthropic organizations that help to enrich the lives of women, children and families. Since the inception of The Saturday Club’s Annual Grant Program in 2004, we have awarded 129 grants to local non-profit organizations with aligned missions.
The amount allocated to our Club’s charitable grant program is determined by the funds available in our budget, which are raised through our Ways & Means fundraisers, our Annual Fund and our ‘Friends of The Saturday Club’ program. Your support will help to secure our future as an impactful charitable organization and honor the rich traditions of our past, while helping to continue our legacy of working for the betterment of our community. On behalf of the women, children, and families, who are the true beneficiaries of your contribution, The Saturday Club is grateful for your support.
