At the end of February, our member volunteers gathered in our historic clubhouse to assist the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project’s Office of Children & Youth in creating an inventory of pre-assembled overnight bags for children of all ages that come through their office doors.
We are so grateful to the generosity and care our membership showed in helping collect and pack thirty-four backpacks and duffle bags with toiletries, clothing, blankets, stuffed animals, books, journals, and other creature comforts. These overnight bags will be given to children removed from their homes and placed in shelter or foster care as a result of neglect and child abuse.
After our sorting and packing project, we had the fortune of listening to Mary Pugh, Executive Director of MCAP who provided a very raw and honest account about the work she and her team do to advocate for their young clients.
