2019-2020 TSC Kids Club events are outlined below
The Saturday Club KIDS Co-Chairs: Tara Donnelly & Pamela Badolato
We are excited for our third year offering child-friendly community service and fundraising activities to children of active Saturday Club Members. The Saturday Club Kids’ mission is to bring service-based projects and opportunities to members of the Club in order to engage their children in focused projects that align with our Club’s mission to support charities that aid and benefit women and children in the Greater Philadelphia Area. The Saturday Club Kids Co-Chairs will work to provide members opportunities to: engage with current TSC projects directly, communicate ideas that foster parent’s involvement in providing service opportunities for their kids, and facilitate projects that provide an opportunity for Kids Club members to directly participate in child-specific service initiatives. Members can sign up to be part of this initiative and may participate in as many or as few activities as they choose. Members who participate in TSC Kids projects will not receive credit for their participation. TSC Kids will have opportunities to participate in established TSC community service projects throughout the Club year. These opportunities will be communicated to TSC Kids members throughout the year and include Blessing Bags, WePac sorting event, Baby Bureau sorting event, The Saturday Club Shuffle 5K and Kids Race. There will be additional projects that are specifically offered to the Kids Club, listed below:
TSC KIDS Radnor Fall Festival – Baked Goods Stand
The Kids Club will kick off the club year by participating in the Radnor Fall Festival on September 15, 2019 in downtown Wayne. We asking our members to bake or purchase baked goods to be offered at the Fall Festival for a donation, along with water bottles. All funds raised will go to the TSC Kids Kindness Coin Jars, which will benefit Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley chapter.
TSC KIDS Jared Boxes
The goal of the Jared Box Project is to lift the spirits of children in the hospital. A Jared Box is a plastic storage box filled with small gifts, toys, games, and fun activities. Each box contains items selected for a specific age and gender. The boxes are delivered to hospitals. Jared Boxes provide a special diversion for young patients in emergency rooms, patient rooms, surgical centers, and clinics as they receive chemotherapy and other medical treatments. Jared Boxes bring smiles and laughter and lift the spirits of children in the hospital.
More about this wonderful project visit The Jared Box Online.
Suggested age appropriate toy list.
You can find a lot of great things at the Dollar Store – 5 Below – and Michaels has a lot of 1$ sticker and activity pack options! No need to spend a lot of money. Involving the kids in this part to pick out things they think the sick children may enjoy is a great way to teach them the gift of giving – and they LOVE decorating the boxes! We invite our entire membership and members children to participate in this fun and rewarding event by bringing their assembled Jared Box to the clubhouse on October 24, 2019 at 4pm. They will have the time and opportunity to share their Jared Box and tell us about what they put in them and why as well as displaying the fun ways they chose to decorate them! Kids of all ages truly enjoy this activity and learn a lot about giving and ways to help others while participating.
TSC KIDS Making Meals
The older members of TSCK will have their own special activity again this year! We will shop, prep, cook, and deliver a full meal to the families staying at Gift of Life Family House in Philadelphia. The people in this house are family members of patients receiving an organ transplant. Dinner is served family style for all residents and volunteers can cook on site or deliver a fully prepared meal. They also maintain a food pantry for snacks and other food options for residents. Children must be age 9 and older to participate in the cooking portion of this event, but our sign up will include options for shopping for ingredients for our chosen recipes, possibly delivery/serving of the meal, and anyone can contribute to our donation to their food pantry. Lists and sign ups will be available as our event gets closer. We will be cooking at the home of Pamela Badolato on January 22, 2020 in the evening. TSCK members age 9 and up plus a few adult volunteers for the cooking portion.
TSC Kids Birthday Kits
We are excited to announce a brand new event for TSC Kids. Who doesn’t like a party? We will be making birthday kits for underserved children in our area. The kits will include everything needed to throw a birthday party for 8. Each kit will be themed by gender, color, or theme. We will be creating the kits on April 21, 2020 at the clubhouse at 4pm.
TSC Kids Pink Lemonade Challenge
On May 8, 2020 at the Saturday Consignment Sale the TSC Kids will host a Pink Lemonade Stand for the Pink Lemonade Stand Challenge started by a local young girl names Brynne. She opened her first annual Pink Lemonade Stand 4 years ago to raise money for breast cancer research in honor of her mom who was then in treatment and in memory of two of her grandmoms and her aunt who also fought breast cancer. We want to support Brynne, her mission and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We will hold the stand outside the clubhouse for patrons of the consignment sale & donating everything earned to Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For more info view this short video and visit the Pink Lemonade Challenge website.
TSC Kids Kindness Coin Jars
Each TSC Kid will receive a Kindness Coin Jar in the beginning of the year to be used year after year. The idea is that children are encouraged, at their parents’ discretion, to do kind acts or small chores to earn coins for their jars. All coins collected for the 2019-20 club year will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley chapter. The coins will be collected at the TSC Kids event on April 21, 2020.
