We are so pleased in your interest in becoming a Saturday Club member! Please read the below information carefully.

The Saturday Club, established in 1886, is one of the oldest women’s philanthropy groups in the United States. We are a community of engaged members dedicated to supporting women and children in the Philadelphia region through meaningful service, fundraising and camaraderie.

Membership includes active participation in our volunteer opportunities and fundraising planning, as well as internal club service, where members contribute as determined necessary. In addition to volunteering our time and energy, members also support the club’s initiatives through contributions, whether by participating in self-selected donation drives, supporting our Tea Table provided to all Membership Meeting attendees or helping financially sustain our internal initiatives through Membership Dues and other financial means.

Member participation includes three main components: Ways and Means, Community Outreach and Club Service.

  • Ways and Means: supports the club’s main fundraising efforts. We have several large recurring events, such as Consignment, Bingo and Etiquette; other events include Quizzo or other ad hoc events throughout the year. By participating in these shifts or promoting these events among your social networks, members help sustain the Club’s operations, fund our Annual Grant Program and maintain the Clubhouse and other resources.
  • Community Outreach: highlights the Club’s mission beyond its membership, emphasizing service and impact to the broader community. Activities may include volunteer work supporting facilities, educational programs, charity events or donation drives (food, clothing or monetary donations).
  • Club Service: ensures members contribute to the internal life and hospitality of the Club, which keep our culture and events vibrant. The Tea Teable is a traditional and symbolic part of Club gatherings, fostering camaraderie, connection and participation in the very social rituals the Club was started upon in 1886.

Each service event or donation-based activity earns members credits – typically one credit per event unless otherwise noted – which help track participation and engagement for each Club Year. Service events vary in time commitment, but range anywhere from a few hours to an all-day event, depending on each event’s requirement. Upon developing more experience and tenure with the Club, members may submit application for chairperson roles prior to the start of the following year, where they can demonstrate their leadership skills and build relationships within the club.

Members select their desired credit fulfillments (subject to availability) and are expected to meet all Credit Requirements to remain in good standing with the Club. All new members begin as Active Members.

Currently, the requirements for Active Members are as follows (subject to change):

  • Four (4) Ways and Means credits (of which 2 must be a Spring AND Fall Consignment shift within the club year)
  • Four (4) Community Outreach credits (up to 2 of which may be a donation drive)
  • Two (2) Club Service credits (of which 1 must be a Tea Table contribution)

Note: For members who are joining in the January class of each club year, these requirements are reduced by half, i.e. 2 Ways and Means credits, 2 Community Outreach credits, and 1 Tea Table Credit.

Prospective new members are encouraged to consider the full scope of involvement for each club year, including volunteer efforts, time commitment and/or financial contributions that support our initiatives, so everyone can fully enjoy and contribute to the meaningful work that makes The Saturday Club special.

By completing the form below, you agree that you are aware of these requirements and expectations.
