This October, our members were challenged to find meaningful ways to support the annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month also serves an important reminder to perform routine self-breast exams and get regular mammograms if you have any personal or family history or are within the recommended ages to receive one.
On October 18th, our volunteers met in our historic clubhouse to support a local West Chester, PA organization that has dedicated itself to providing support for women who have been afflicted with either breast cancer or ovarian cancer. Unite for HER bridges the gaps between medicine and wellness practices for breast and ovarian cancer patients by providing easily accessible resources on topics like nutrition, acupuncture, massage, yoga, counseling and other ways to enhance wellness and care for emotional, spiritual and physical needs.
Our volunteers assembled and personally signed over 320 education packets that will be included in every Unite for HER wellness box that the organization sends out to women who are newly diagnosed and undergoing treatment. We hope that our small part in this great effort will continue to bring hope and offer support to the women impacted by these cancers.
