Our Fall Fête event was a great success – thank you to all who attended! While the event has passed, we are still collecting donations toward the renovation of our clubhouse ballroom floor. We sincerely appreciate all donations toward this large project – read below for some history of our wonderful clubhouse!
The Saturday Club is thrilled to announce the inaugural Fall Fête to be hosted on Saturday, October 19, 2019 beginning at 7pm. This event boasts of an evening of food by 12th Street Catering, signature fall cocktails crafted by Bar Spoon Beverage, seasonal craft beer & wine (check out the full menu and drinks list), live music by Matt Spitko, fall entertainment and raffle baskets with all proceeds benefiting the ballroom floor restorations in our historic clubhouse.
For over 130 years, our organization has been a vital institution in the Greater Philadelphia area from allowing its members a progressive forum to share ideas and impact change outside the home in its early days to chairing collection drives, service projects and philanthropy events that have directly benefited local charities with aligned missions in more modern times. Our beautiful, historic building not only sits in the center of downtown Wayne, but it has also served as the center of our organization and the incredible work our members have been able to perform.
Oh, if these floors could talk…They would tell a vibrant tale of activism, culture, and service. From the erection of the build in the very late 1800s, our members have used our clubhouse as a center for campaigning and collections during integral legislative changes and both World Wars; as a school room for the very first kindergarten in town; as an emergency Red Cross hospital during the influenza pandemic of 1918 and WWII; as one of the first local theatres establishing The Footlighters (now in Berwyn); as a nursery school of disabled and delayed children; and so many, many philanthropy events over the last few decades, such as the American Girl Fashion Show, Cotillion, Handbag Bingo, TSC Shuffle 5K, Consignment Sale, etc.
Our members’ focus is and will always be centered around our mission of improving the lives of women, children, and families in our local community, but we also need to take care of our core—our incredible historic building. Over the years, our beautiful ballroom floor has seen a lot of action, and while annual maintenance and repairs have kept her in fighting order through it all, we have reached a point where we need to replace the hardwood floors.
All proceeds raised during our Fall Fête will go directly to helping offset the cost of the restoration of the floors and quite literally lay a solid foundation for countless future altruistic purposes of our building. We hope you’ll join us for this exciting night of fun and fundraising with great food, drinks, entertainment, raffles, and fall fanfare!
If you cannot make the event, but still wish to make a donation to our clubhouse restoration efforts, we welcome you to participate in this significant project.
