On May 2, The Saturday Club Kids held their last event of the year. Each child assembled and brought in a Jared Box, which is a shoe box-sized plastic storage container filled with small gifts, toys, games and fun activities for children in the hospital. Each box contains items selected for a specific age and gender and are delivered to local hospitals. At the event, Kids Club members decorated the exterior of the boxes with stickers, created personal notes for each recipient and heard from one of the TSC Kids chairs, Kristen Cook, about the value and importance of this project.
In addition to making Jared Boxes, Kids Club members also collected their earnings from their kindness coin jars to be donated to Operation Warm, a local organization whose main focus is to ensure every child has a warm coat for the colder months. Throughout the year, each child performed acts of kindness such as picking up sticks in a neighbor’s yard, helping with the dishes, donating a book to the library, sharing with siblings and many more kind acts to help collect coins for their jars.
It has been a great year for the TSC Kids and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall!
