On February 22, TSC completed the Revolution Ride for the Parkinson’s Foundation at AFC Fitness in Bala Cynwyd! Members who volunteered to cycle in the event described the experience as fulfilling and heartwarming, all while getting a worthwhile workout in: “As I pedaled my way through the class, surrounded by other fellow participants raising money for this cause, I felt a deep sense of purpose.”
Each mile that our members rode was a stride toward increased awareness and raising funds for Parkinson’s Disease research and support.Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases in the world, second only to dementia. In the US, about 90,000 people are diagnosed with PD each year; this number is expected to increase to 1.2 million by 2030. Rates of diagnosis are higher in certain regions, including central Pennsylvania.
Hosted at AFC Fitness, TSC members supported the Parkinson’s Revolution event – an indoor and nationwide cycling event that combines passion and the determination to raise awareness/research funds towards a cure for PD. With help from our community, TSC raised over $550 towards Parkinson’s research. Thank you to our chair, Bronson Dewey, and our participating volunteers!
