As a past recipient of The Saturday Club Annual Grant Program, The Saturday Club is well-attuned to the great work that is being done at the Interfaith Hospitality Network (an Affiliate of FamilyPromise) to provide temporary shelter and services for homeless families, by leveraging resources from the community and local congregations.
It is easy to take for granted the housing stability that most of us enjoy each and every day for ourselves and our families. Interfaith Hospitality Network of the Main Line (IHN-ML) is passionate about ensuring all families have access to safety and stability through their network of congregations that work to provide shelter, meals and hospitality to families seeking help. IHN-ML partners with resilient families that are dedicated to getting out of a homeless state and back on their feet to provide a better future for themselves and their children. Many of the families seeking Interfaith Hospitality Network’s services include infants, toddlers, teenagers — several of which are single mothers with young children.
Last week, members of The Saturday Club assisted in arming 5 families in the Interfaith Hospitality Network community, who are transitioning out of homelessness and into more stable living situations, with essential household goods by organizing and filling baskets with necessary provisions. Volunteers collected toilet paper, hand soap, shower curtains, paper towels, laundry detergent, cleaning products and more, then sorted and packaged the items into extra large laundry baskets. These ‘welcome home’ baskets will be distributed to in-need families transitioning into more permanent housing through the help of IHN and their own dedication to be self-sustained.
